Sylvester Chambers;  A custodian for the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board and a resident of Baton Rouge , Sylvester  L. T. Chambers  died on Wednesday, April 19, 2000at LSU Earl K. Long Medical Center.  Religious  services were held at Allen Chapel AME Church in Woodville at 1:00pm on Monday, April 24, 2000.

Bea Lewis;  Funeral services for Beatrice Fenwick "Bea" Stewart Lewis, 86-year old resident of the Street community in Amite County, were held at her home, Beach Grove Plantation, at 3:00pm on Saturday, April 22, 2000, conducted by the Reverend Van Windsor.

Joyce M Schloss;   Funeral services for Joyce Marie Schloss of Woodville will be held Saturday, April 29, at noon at the Pleasant Green Baptist Church.  

Ruth J. Trask;   Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Jackson Trask, 86-year old native and life-long resident of Centreville, were held at 3:00pm on Saturday, April 22, 2000, at Thomson Memorial Presbyterian Church in Centreville.

Duke Tip Program Recognizes 3 Local Bright Students

TIP, the Duke University Talent Identification Program, is sponsoring a series of recognition ceremonies to honor some of the most talented seventh-graders in the United States.  This year more than 21,100 students are invited to attend State Recognition Ceremonies.  Students invited to the TIP ceremonies earned scores that would be the envy of many graduating seniors and while only in the seventh grade.  Wilkinson County students recognized for TIP honor included from Centreville Academy,  Christopher Nall of Centreville, and from WCCA,  John Harvey of ST. Francisville and Addie Leak of Woodville
